My Profile

Hello! My name is Tessa Johnston, and I am a freshman at Central Piedmont Community College. I was home-schooled all the way through high school, and I currently live outside the city limits of  Waxhaw, NC.  I plan to get a BA in American Sign Language Interpretation and become an interpreter while continuing to foster my other interests. These include, but are not limited to: dance, musical theater, and photography. One of my greatest passions, and the foundation of what I want to accomplish in life, is helping people. With God’s help, I want that passion to guide me and always be at the forefront of all my education and career plans.

My Myers Briggs personality type is ISFJ (Introverted, Sensing, Feeling, Judging), which makes a lot of sense to me (get it?) because it explains my love of helping others and my tendencies to internalize my emotions and avoid conflict. Even though I am not extroverted, I highly value relationships, especially my relationships with family and friends. I am not always the most decisive person, but, when I have a goal in mind, there is nothing that can get in my way. Even though I know that accomplishing my education and career goals is going to be hard and take a lot of work, I am determined to accomplish what I have set out to do. I also place great value on honesty, integrity, and excellence; these are qualities I know will be very important in helping me reach my goals. My skill set includes reading comprehension, critical thinking, and learning strategies, all of which will play an important role in helping me develop my American Sign Language and interpreting expertise for the future.
